WINDOWS USERS IMPORTANT – Prerequisites when using FLUX:: Center on Windows

If you have any FLUX:: / Ircam / Jünger Audio software that was installed before installing FLUX:: Center, using standard Windows Installer MSI installation files, then ALL previously installed Flux:: / Ircam / Jünger software needs to be uninstalled using Add/Remove Programs, before installing and using Flux:: Center for the first time.

Starting up Center for the first time

After installing and starting Flux:: Center it will begin downloading resources from our servers and a progress bar is displayed. When the download is finished, you will then be able to start using the Center to install your software.

FLUX:: Center Preferences Setup

Flux:: Center is used for installing all our software and all of the different plug-in formats. When using Center for the first time, you should set up the Center Preferences to only download and install the plug-in formats that you need.

To access Center Preferences, simply click on the gear symbol located to the right at the top of the Center window.

Plug-in Formats and Software Installation Path

Plugin Formats

In Center preferences you can enable or disable the different plug-in formats, making it possible to setup Center to only install the plug-in formats you need.

  • VST 32 (Windows & Mac OS X)
  • VST 64 (Windows & Mac OS X)
  • AAX 32 (Windows & Mac OS X)
  • AAX 64 (Windows & Mac OS X)
  • AU 32 (Mac OS X Only)
  • AU 64 (Mac OS X Only)
  • Waves WPAPI (Windows & Mac OS X)
  • VS3 Pyramix 9 x86 (For Merging Pyramix, Windows Only)
  • VS3 Pyramix 9 x64 (For Merging Pyramix, Windows Only)
  • VS3 Pyramix 10 (For Merging Pyramix, Windows Only)
  • AAX VENUE (Windows & Mac OS X)

Software Installation Path (Windows Only)

In Windows, the software installation paths can be edited for the different software and plugin formats, with the exception of the AVID AAX and Waves WPAPI plug-ins, which both require specific installation paths. FLUX:: Analyzer Essential / FLUX:: Session Analyzer and SampleGrabber installation
When the FLUX:: Analyzer Essential / FLUX:: Session Analyzer stand-alone application is installed, the SampleGrabber plug-in, used for local and network communication between the DAW and the Analyzer stand-alone application, is automatically installed if any of the  AU / VST / AAX plug-in formats are enabled for install in the Center Preferences Install Options.

Spat Revolution and Spat Send / Return / Room plugins installation

Spat Revolution is a  stand-alone application accompanied by three plugins, Send, Return, and Room, used for local and network communication between the DAW and Spat Revolution, which are automatically installed if any of the  AU / VST / AAX plug-in formats are enabled for install in the Center Preferences Install Options. Stand-alone Application Shortcuts
When installing a stand-alone application the option to create application shortcuts can be enabled in Center Preferences. On macOS, the shortcut is added in the dock, and on Windows, a shortcut is created on the desktop.
After you’ve set up Center Preferences, you need to save your settings by pressing OK, which will take you back to the Center main installation window to continue installing your software.

The FLUX:: Analyzer Essential / FLUX:: Session Analyzer is a stand-alone application and not a plugin.

It is using a plugin, called SampleGrabber, to broadcast the audio data from the DAW or Host software to the stand-alone application, either on the same computer, localhost, or over the network using a different computer for the Analyzer stand-alone application.

You can read more about this in the FLUX:: Analyzer User Manual (online).

When installing any of the Flux:: stand-alone applications, such as the FLUX:: Analyzer Essential / FLUX:: Session Analyzer, shortcuts can be created by enabling this option under Global Options in Flux:: Center.

On MacOS, the shortcuts are added to the dock; on Windows, the shortcuts are created on the desktop.

When the FLUX:: Analyzer application is installed, the SampleGrabber plug-in will be installed automatically if any of the  AU / VST / AAX plug-in formats are enabled in FLUX:: Center preferences “Install Options“.

If your SampleGrabber plug-in instances are not listed in the source menu in the FLUX:: Analyzer Essential or FLUX:: Session Analyzer application, or if there is no incoming signal from the SampleGrabber plug-in in the Analyzer application, there may be a problem with the network communication between the plug-in and the Analyzer application.

SampleGrabber is not listed in the Analyzer application as a Source (Windows Only)

  • As a first step, press play in the DAW and verify that the sound is playing as intended, the SampleGrabber needs to process audio before it can be recognized by the Analyzer application.
  • If after this the SampleGrabber is still not listed in the Analyzer application as a Source, there may be an issue with the Apple Bonjour network framework, used for the network discovery to find and to list the SampleGrabber instances automatically, as well as for the communication between the SampleGrabber and the Analyzer application.

    How to fix this
    • Close all applications (including your web browser).
    • Open the Windows control panel.
    • Uninstall Flux:: Center and the Apple Bonjour Framework ( if it’s installed ) using the Add / Remove Programs.
    • Install the latest version of FLUX:: Center again, now the installer should prompt and ask if you want to install the Apple Bonjour Framework, which you need to do in order to fix this.

When the installation is completed, everything should now work as intended.

No signs of signal from the SampleGrabber plug-in in the Analyzer application (Windows / macOS)

  • Version Numbers
First of all, please verify that the versions of the Analyzer application and the SampleGrabber plugin are both the latest.

    Finding the version number
    • To find the version number in the SampleGrabber plugin, open the plugin, click on the small cogwheel button on the plugin user interface, and the version number is displayed there. The current correct version number should follow the format: V3.5.29.46205.
    • To find the version number in the Analyzer application, simply read it at the top of the open application, in the title bar. The current correct version number should follow the format: 1.10.4.46205.
  • Network Settings
If you still experience problems connecting the SampleGrabber plugin and the Analyzer application, please check that both the source system where the SampleGrabber plugin is inserted and the destination system where the Analyzer application is installed, are connected over the same network and that they both have a valid network configuration.

Both systems need to be configured with an IP network, either through a DHCP server or using manual network configuration.
  • Firewall Settings
If there are no signs of signal in the Analyzer application after selecting one of the available SampleGrabber plugins, please check your firewall settings and verify that both the Analyzer application and your host software are authorized for any network communication, or specifically, for UDP access from port 46000 to 46064.
