Transcoding is an important part of the Ambisonic workflow. It allows you to monitor our work on almost all possible speaker arrangements.

There are two types of transcoding blocks into SPAT Revolution:

  • Input transcoder: it allows to transcode HOA or A-Format inputs into channel-based sources, in order to spatialize them into a room.
  • Master transcoder: it allows you to transcode HOA inputs into your monitoring speakers setup.

SPAT Revolution offers different methods of transcoding. To access these settings, just select an input transcoder or an output transcoder item on the Setup page.

You’ll find all details concerning the transcoding parameter in SPAT Revolution documentation – Ambisonic transcoding.

As the processing in the IRCAM Trax plugins is performing a lot of advanced calculations, they all introduce a very high latency. The Latency Compensation value, in samples, is very useful to be aware of in order to assure that all tracks in a project are in synchronization.

IRCAM TRAX Transformer

  • 44.1 KHz = -9792 samples
  • 48 KHz = -10624 samples
  • 88.2 Khz = -19520 samples
  • 96 KHz = -21184 samples
  • 176.4 KHz = -38976 samples
  • 192 KHz = -42368 samples

IRCAM TRAX Cross Synthesis

  • 44.1 KHz = -5536 samples
  • 48 KHz = -6016 samples
  • 88.2 Khz = -11056 samples
  • 96 KHz = -12016 samples
  • 176.4 KHz = -22080 samples
  • 192 KHz = -24016 samples

IRCAM TRAX Source Filter

  • 44.1 KHz = -5536 samples
  • 48 KHz = -6016 samples
  • 88.2 Khz = -11056 samples
  • 96 KHz = -12016 samples
  • 176.4 KHz = -22080 samples
